Subtunes was set up by Francis Winand in 2014 when he decided to make music more than just a hobby.
Francis is a classically trained musician who has brought his enthusiasm for music to various compositions and performances over the last 20 years. He is particularly passionate about illustrating a story through music. You can see this clearly in the broad range of styles which he uses for his compositions, which range from New Age backing tracks & jingle themes for commercials, to music for film.
Francis plays the trumpet with the funk & jazz band Patchwork at the Half Moon Pub in Putney. He also plays trumpet descants and voluntaries at weddings and carol concerts. He has also participated in concerts internationally – most notably as lead trumpet in a brass concert series in Russia, with performances at the Rachmaninov Hall, the Brass & Woodwind Institute and the Moscow Conservatoire (1990).
Post university, Francis spent nine years in the Royal Navy Submarine Service before leaving to train as a Solicitor specialising in Property Law. Whilst involved in running a property development company, Francis enjoys stretching the limits of his composition styles and connecting with others through music. Francis is currently composing a piano concertino for performance in London in April 2017.
